About Alzheimer's Queensland

Empowering older people to live with independence, dignity, and wellbeing

Founded in 1983, Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is Australia’s largest dementia association and a trusted provider of compassionate care and support for older Australians.

As an inclusive organisation, we believe every person deserves a life filled with meaning, connection, and choice. We take the time to understand each individual and their family, tailoring living arrangements and lifestyle supports to meet their unique needs — now and into the future.

Choosing care for someone you love is a deeply personal decision. At Alzheimer’s Queensland, we understand the trust that families place in us, and we honour it with care that is thoughtful, compassionate, and deeply respectful.

As a progressive, not-for-profit organisation, we provide world-class aged care services delivered by more than 500 dedicated professionals — including registered nurses, allied health specialists, lifestyle and community respite teams, and hospitality and domestic staff. Every member of our team is committed to supporting not just care needs, but the whole person behind them.

Our services include in-home and centre-based community respite, support at home, specialist dementia care, a dementia advisory service, and long-term residential care. We work closely with families to tailor care that adapts as needs change, while always preserving dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Families trust us because we take the time to listen. We get to know each person’s history, preferences, and abilities, and we design care that supports comfort, confidence, and connection — whether at home or in residential care.

We are recognised for excellence in allied health and wellbeing services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology, music therapy; helping your loved one stay as active, capable, and engaged as possible.

At Alzheimer’s Queensland, we value inclusion and respect individuality. We provide culturally safe care and specialised support for people from LGBTI and diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring everyone feels seen, understood, and accepted.

When you choose AQ, you’re not just choosing a care provider — you’re choosing a trusted partner who will walk alongside your family with compassion, expertise, and reassurance every step of the way.

Our mission

Our mission at AQ is to work collectively with our clients, to maintain their dignity, remain socially and physically active, and deter premature placement in residential facilities.
