Your treating doctor or pharmacist should supply you with relevant information about all medications that you are taking.

Antibiotics are not effective against viruses so do not be surprised if your doctor does not prescribe them.

A few points about antibiotics that should be followed when they have been ordered for your illness,

  • Take them exactly as prescribed.
  • Take the whole course or number of tablets prescribed.
  • Do not skip doses.
  • Do not take antibiotics prescribed for someone else.
  • Talk to a doctor or pharmacist if you have any new or unusual symptoms or side effects while on the medication.
